“I love updating Windows,” said no one ever.

For IT Professionals, Windows updates are rarely fun. Manual patching means planning downtime, testing patches, and pushing them across every desktop, physical or virtual. On BYO devices, it’s even worse: users postpone updates, disable Windows Update Services, run into errors, and waste hours on rollbacks.

With Dizzion DaaS & Cloud PC, patching is no longer painful. Windows updates are automated, stress-free, and included at no extra cost. No more hand-patching golden images, juggling third-party tools, or burning weekends on maintenance marathons.

Dizzion Managed OS Updates builds the entire lifecycle into the flow: test patches, accept them, and move them into production, all from the same modern admin console you already use. The result: every virtual desktop stays patched, compliant, and secure, accessible from any browser.

One platform. Zero hassle.

We’ve developed and added Managed OS Updates to Dizzion DaaS and Cloud PC at no extra cost to take the pain out of Windows patching. With a single click, you can enable the feature, configure policies, and centrally manage updates. No more manually installing patches in golden images, or relying on legacy approaches like WSUS, SCCM, Intune, Endpoint Manager, Autopatch, or third-party tools such as Ivanti, Tanium, or ManageEngine. Dizzion Managed OS Updates streamlines the entire process, keeping every Virtual Desktop current and secure without extra effort.

Who said Windows Updates must be painful? With our solution they’re fully automated, stress-free, included at no cost, and easy to manage from a single plane of glass.

Traditional patching vs. Managed OS Updates: here’s the difference

Here’s how Dizzion Managed OS Updates compares to the tools you’re using today for DaaS and Cloud PC?:

What makes Dizzion Managed OS Updates unique is the safety built into every cycle. Before updates start, the Sandbox VM (gold image) is backed up, so you can instantly revert to a known-good state if needed. Updates are then applied to a set of test VMs, and once the IT team validates them, the service rolls them out to production. The result: admins get peace of mind, test first, validate, deploy, and roll back with ease if something breaks.

How Managed OS Updates works (persistent vs non-persistent)

We support persistent (stateful) and non-persistent (stateless) DaaS and Cloud PC environments, with a slightly different workflow.

Non-persistent VMs

1. The Sandbox is powered on and backed up Task: Managed OS Updates - Phase 1

IMPORTANT: During the update process, you cannot do anything with the Sandbox (no power on, restart, resize, clone). So, make sure to choose the update time carefully.

2. Updates are applied to the Sandbox and published to a test pool VM(s). – Task: Managed OS Updates - Phase 1

NOTE: The only extra cost here is to keep at least one VM in the test pool. It will usually stay powered off, so the cost is minimal - a small trade-off for having a safe test environment.

3. Admins have up to 3 weeks to validate that everything works as expected on the test VM(s) and confirm the changes from the console.

4. Once approved, or automatically after the validation window expires, the updates are rolled out to all production workloads. – Task: Managed OS Updates - Phase 2

Persistent VMs and Cloud PCs

1. The Sandbox VM is powered on and backed up – Task: Managed OS Updates - Phase 1
IMPORTANT: During the update process, you cannot do anything with the Sandbox (no power on, restart, resize, clone etc.). So, make sure to choose the update time carefully.

2. Updates are applied to the Sandbox and published to persistent VM(s) set by IT teams – ideally to a test user’s Virtual Machine - Task: Managed OS Updates - Phase 1

3. Admins have up to 3 weeks to validate that everything works as expected on the test VM(s) and confirm the changes via console.

4. Once approved, or automatically after the validation window expires, the updates are rolled out to all production workloads. - Task: Managed OS Updates - Phase 2

The result is a straightforward, step-by-step update process that reduces risk and increases stability.

Customer feedback

Based on our experience with customers, here are a few consistent reasons they value Dizzion Managed OS Updates:

  • No surprises. Some updates break app compatibility or user settings, and reverting manually across dozens or hundreds of desktops is stressful. Built-in backup and rollback make it simple.
  • Peace of mind. IT teams can finally sleep better when patching is automated and rollbacks are easy.
  • Start small. Customers want to test updates with a small group before rolling them out broadly. Managed OS Updates provides this built-in test-pool approach.
  • No extra tools. They don’t want to deploy separate patching products or pay for additional licenses and infrastructure. With Dizzion, everything is included and managed from a single pane of glass, with configurable notifications for each update cycle.

Getting started & what’s next

Currently, the console gives you the option to enable Managed OS Updates and perform the following actions:

  • Enable Managed OS Updates

NOTE: For non-persistent accounts, you need to enable Test Publish, create a Test Pool, and set the test pool capacity to at least 1. All the required steps are exposed in the console with instructions on how to do it:

  • Go to Settings next to the Updates blade and:
  • Schedule maintenance windows
  • Define User Acceptance VM(s) for persistent accounts. Please note that the Test Pool will be used automatically for testing purposes for non-persistent accounts.
  • Configure Acceptance Time
  • Configure who will be receiving update notifications

Closing

Windows patching doesn’t have to be a headache. With Dizzion Managed OS Updates, IT teams get an automated, test-first, rollback-ready process, built directly into Dizzion DaaS and Cloud PC and included at no extra cost. The result is virtual desktops that stay secure, compliant, and always up to date, without late nights, manual fixes, or third-party tools.
